Whatsapp started UPI payment services in India

WhatsApp has begun trying a new payments feature in India that will allow public to send money to other WhatsApp users, excluding commercial accounts. WhatsApp has rolled out the Unified Payments (UPI) Interface based payments feature in our country. Whatsapp has already started testing the UPI functionality to mix peer-to-peer payment system in the app. The new UPI mixing feature is available for select WhatsApp beta users on iOS (2.18.21) and Android (2.18.41), enabling users to send and accept money using the Indian government’s UPI standard. This fresh feature can be accessed in a chat window and can be found next to other options such as Gallery, videos, Documents and others in the attachment list of options. WhatsApp appears to have launched the digital payments service in India before rest of the world. Some weeks back, the company focusing on how small businesses are in touch with their customers in India launched WhatsApp Business, a free-to-download Android app for little businesses.
After clicking on Payments option, a requirement window will show up a list of banks. From there, users can select their chosen bank account to connect with UPI. Then they have to create an verification pin if you have not yet used the UPI payments program. Moreover, if you don’t have a UPI account then you has to create one through the UPI app or your own bank’s website. The payments platform’s addition may give boost digital payments in India, considering the number of active users on the platform in India. Moreover, with the new feature, users could instantly transfer their money between two people or a bank account directly through WhatsApp. Also, both the receiver and sender need to have the WhatsApp Payments feature to effectively conduct on the app.
